Capture the Words

Meet my newest steal from pinterest. Capture the Words... articulation edition. My students have really been loving this activity. I love it mostly because it's fast and a great way to get in a lot of practice in a short amount of time. I got the idea from a sight word game over at First Grade A La Carte.

You can either use highlighter or bingo chips. Students take turns rolling dice or drawing slips and covering words. After I took this picture I made my letter and number dice from little 1" wooden blocks I had in my craft pile.

  4. I have been using these sheets on my Smartboard. I have the kids come up and say their word, then use it in a sentence (if they are at that level), and then they use the pens to mark off the word. I can easily switch the highlighter color for each student.

  6. Jenna, I appreciate all the ideas that you're using with your kids! I share your blog with my K-2 teachers regularly as a means of helping them find interventions they might incorporate into their teaching. Many of our students come with language deficits, and the teachers are often wondering what they can do to support the work of our extremely hard-working, and heavily overburdened Speech-Language Therapist! Thank you!

  9. I use the Make Dice App for this -- one with numbers, one with letters. The kids love it!

  10. I haven't had time to get an alphabet die for this so I improvised...used white out tape on the letters, drew in shapes and used the number-die-inside-a-blue-shape die. Had a great time with my second graders! Thank you!
